Regulations of the international competition “Extraordinary Personality of the Two Countries” on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of Rakhmetolla Raiymkulov.

The family of the writer Rakhmetolla Raiymkulov together with the Non-Commercial Joint Stock Company "Fund Otandastar", on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the birth of Rakhmetolla Raiymkulov, a prominent representative of Kazakh literature, a well-known writer, a veteran of the World War II, a native of the village of Karamanas, Bostandyk district, Tashkent region of the present Republic of Uzbekistan, announce international competition “Extraordinary personality of two countries” for purposeful youth abroad aged 13 to 35 years.

Entries will be accepted until April 28, 2023. The competition results will be announced on May 15, 2023. The location of the award will be announced at a later date.

The jury consists of scholars who study the theory of journalism and literature, public figures, famous writers and journalists. The best works will be selected at the jury meeting.

 

The purpose and objectives of the competition

  1. Raise the interest of young people in literature and contribute to strengthening the authority of our national literature;
  2. Make an effort to develop children's literature
  3. Popularization, presentation in an informative article of the writer R. Raiymkulov as an outstanding writer, a historical figure of his time, who wrote in various genres.

 

Competition nominations:

  1. The best story (free topic)
  2. The best work for children (story, fairy tale, fable, etc.), (free topic)
  3.  The best informative article (informative article about the life and work of the writer R. Raiymkulov
 

Conditions of the competition:

  • works submitted between February 15 and April 28, 2023 will be included in the contest;
  • purposeful and talented young people from abroad, students and graduates of secondary and higher educational institutions, educational and scientific institutions under the age of 35 years old, as well as PhD-doctoral students and young scientists can participate in the competition;
  • the competition accepts works only in the Kazakh language;
  • the author participates in the competition in only one genre;
  • the works submitted for the competition should not be published in periodicals, included in the book and should not have previously won prizes in other competitions;

 

Requirements for competition entries:

  1. High artistic quality;
  2. Disclosure of the topic;
  3. Purity of language;
  4. Logical harmony;
  5. Depth of thought;
  6. Reliability of archival information;
  7. Innovation.

 

Awarding:

The winner of the contest in each nomination is awarded with a cash prize in the amount of 500,000 (five hundred thousand) tenge.

An incentive prize of 100,000 (one hundred thousand) tenge will be awarded to 3 additional participants.

On behalf of NJSC "Fund Otandastar" there are 5 special prizes for participants recognized as the best (free tickets to children's health centers in Kazakhstan and other valuable prizes).

 

Job submission requirements:

  1. Entries must be typed in A-4 format, Times New Roman font, 14 point size, 1.15 intervals;
  2. The volume of materials submitted for the contest should not exceed 7-8 pages.
  3. In the first file, only the title of the work and the author's pseudonym are written at the top of the first page of the work.
  4. For example: “Okyptugan”, in the nomination “Best story”. The second file should contain the author's alias and the full name of the author. You should also write your full name, year of birth, place of study or work, e-mail address, contact telephone number;
  5. Contest materials will not be returned to the authors.
  6. Materials are accepted electronically.

Information. Rakhmetolla Raiymkulov (1913–1978) was born on May 11 in the village of Karamanas, Bostandyk district, in present-day Tashkent region. In 1929 he entered the Kazakh Pedagogical Technical School in Tashkent with a four-year education. After leaving school in 1933, he became a teacher at a school in the Upper Chirchik district of the Tashkent region, where he had previously studied himself. He worked as an editor of the regional newspaper "Alga". Since then, he has worked for a long time in the press. In 1935-1936 he studied at a pedagogical institute in Tashkent. In 1937, he transferred to the Almaty Institute of Communist Journalists of Kazakhstan, graduated from it in 1939 and was left as the executive secretary of the magazine “Stalin Zholy” (now “Qazaqstan Ayelderi”). In 1941, he moved to the newspaper “Sotsialistik Qazaqstan” (now “Yegemen Qazaqstan”). He went to the war the same year and served in the army until January 1946. After returning from the war, he leads seminars on the genres of essays and feuilletons at the Faculty of Journalism of the Kazakh State University. In 1949-1953, he was twice elected chairman of the Republican Committee of the Union of Polygraphy and Printing Workers. In 1953-1961 he was the executive secretary of the “Zhuldyz” magazine, head of the prose department of the “Qazaq Adebieti” magazine of the “Zhuldyz” magazine. Since 1971, he worked as deputy director of the fiction propaganda bureau under the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan. In the field of translations, he translated into Kazakh two books of the trilogy by S. Aini "Bukhara". Some of his works are translated into Russian. He has been awarded several orders and medals. His works: “Uade”, “Kokzhal”, “Zhasyl Beles”, “Tuyeli Adam”, “Baldaqty Adam”, “Bolattyn Synygy”, “Qara Zhorga”, etc.
